Tail Docking & Dewclaw Removal

Tail docking and dewclaw
removal are procedures performed at CVS between 2-3 days of
age. These procedures are breed specific and are not
necessary for all puppies. Depending on breed standards and
breeder preferences, either or both procedures can be
performed at once. There are no sedatives used while this is
done. The process is short with minimal pain. It is possible
to wait until the puppy is older to perform these
procedures, however anesthesia is a must, as well as
bandaging and antibiotics. It is also very painful and
difficult on your dog.
